I was thinking to myself...about 2:00 at night on the toilet, thinking about what FPS or other shooters have had shotguns in them but that i've never used and I believe that I have used and liked every shotgun in every shooting game that I have played.
I want to know if anyone else have not used a shotgun in a type of shooting game, Their must be a shotgun present in the game and you can specifiy whether or not you only used the shotgun for multiplayer or single player.
Me personally...always used a shotgun...wont stop using a shotgun....
Why do we always use Shotguns?
Shotguns are horribly overpowered normally, that's why. But I always go for the assault rifle, it's more of an all-rounder weapon.
You could also use a sniper rifle...
I didn't in Halo 1.
Shotguns have a special appeal in some situations. If you have a lot of lag and you're using a rifle or machine gun, it can be hard to tell if you're even hitting your opponent. With a shotgun you just have to get really close and fire and if they don't die, you missed. I like shotguns for what they are in games like Doom 1 & 2, Halo, Killzone 2, Half Life and many others, but they're really helpful sometimes in online play.
I love me some shotgun. That thing saved my ass in resident evil 4 and 5 so many times it isn't even funny.
"Because they usually have some kind of bullshit advantage. (i.e Gears of War 1 & 2)"This also contributes to the "fuck you" factor of shotguns.
Nothing like rolling up on a dude and giving em a torso fulla lead.
The shotgun in the first Resident Evil, 'cause you had nothing to fear with that beast equipped. Plus it had to be badass if the previous residents had made attempts to protect it with that bat-shit crazy ceiling.
The shotty in Gears is good when your going to get flushed out by a grenade or something, causing you to rush out like an ass nugget and put a few shells into 'em. The chainsaw leaves you too exposed to your targets teammates, but with the boomstick you can just keep running.
Nah, don't use the shotgun very much. In Call of Duty 4 I completely ignore them because half the time I can't close in close enough to my opponents and kill them. Meanwhile in Gears of War 2 I whip out my Lancer in favour of the chainsaw. GTA IV it's assault rifle all the way for me.
Easy. Big reticle, one shot kill. You can just stand around a corner and wait for people to run by. See: Killzone 2.
Honestly? I like the stopping power, and I like the noise they make. I also like shooting them in that real life thing that we all do, but that's not quite as fun. I can't think of one game where I don't gravitate towards the shotgun or it's equivalent (IE: The Flak Cannon in Unreal Tournament/04/3.). The one time I refrain from using a shotgun is if ammo in in short supply, in games such as Resident Evil 4.
cause when someone takes that buckshot to the chest/head theres just no way they getting up from that
Dude shotguns are awesome. In games where the shotgun supposedly "sucks," it's totally fun to use one and just mop the floor with their dead bodies. Only game I haven't really liked using shotguns was R6V2 for some strange reason even though the shotgun in that game is hella good. Probably because it was so good and I just loved using all the other weapons better ;p

"No.. not really. The shotgun is dope. I got bored of killing people with a stupid assault rifle so i was like fuck it I'm gonna use the shotgun and i did very well (played countless matches with it).COD4"All the more power to you. My K/D in WaW is 2.3, and I can never seem to go positive when I use a shotgun.
I use shotguns in FPS games because I have poor aim and need all the help I can get to hit a target. Most of the time, just firing in the general area of the target is enough to do some level of damage. I really suck at sniper rifles, so I need to get as close as possible, then shotgun the enemy and hope they die before I run out of shells.

I love shotguns, but the one's in CoD 4 suck anus. But I usually snub the sniper riffle/s, cause I'm usually better off just using the assault riffle.
It most of the time 1 hit kills up close (and personal) and the sound of the power of the gun in almost all games is amazing. And fck automatic shotguns.
its wondeful in rainbow 6 vegas. blidfiring and running-firing is just as accurate as walk firing or standing still firing
in gears...... needs no epxlanations
in halo the first one had the same spread as the assault rifle, the second one had ammo to last you a alifetime then in halo 3 they need to be eating the end of the gun for it to be much use. And they added the mauler, which is basically just used for hitting people
Most shotguns are cheap, granted, the it's rather satisfying when you pump a buck into someone's chest.
There is a reason it's been called the NOOB cannon for decades. 90% of the time they are unbalanced hyper unrealistic. There is a reason the USMC isn't running around in wars w/ shotguns as their primary weapon. It's just like circle strafe jumping, unrealistic unbalanced nonsense that users are exploiting in MP
