I was a huge fan of the whole crew back in the gamespot days, and I was extremely upset when Jeff was fired. I followed his blog and have been listening to the new podcast since the day the first one came out.
I'm mostly asking because...are there people here who didn't know these dudes from back in the Gamespot days? And how did you find and start using the site? Or are we almost all former (or current) Gamespot users?
How did you get here on Giantbomb?
"I was a huge fan of the whole crew back in the gamespot days, and I was extremely upset when Jeff was fired. I followed his blog and have been listening to the new podcast since the day the first one came out.Exact same situation with me. Although I barely posted on GS so no one here would remember me.
I started following Jeff's blog after he left Gamespot. Over time that blog evolved into something EXPLOSIVE!
I was a GS user since 03. After Rich left GS and On The Spot, Jeff was the saving grace. Once he was fired and most of the notables left GS I became interested in where he ended up. I read about Giant Bomb on Wikipedia and I started following the blog last June.
"I was part of the Great Gamespot Exodus."same here, after that I was told there was steak here.
I'm still waiting for the free steak. D:
I was searching for a means to annihilate New Hampsire Governor John Lynch (you could say I wanted to 'lynch Mr.Lynch), so I googled a variety of things. Guns, ammunition, knives, swords, dragons, hyperbonic fluxator beams, and finally, bombs. When my search brought me to explosives, I thought the bigger, the better, so I searched for giant bombs. My search brought me here, to GiantBomb.com, a deceptive name. However, thanks to the discovery, I've now channelled my anger with catharsis through video games! Thanks GIant Bomb!
I wanted to learn how to build a bombmnot to blow up my school or anything, but to make a small one and just blow it up, essentially a type of firework- I did by the way. Awesome!
Lots of people here were from gamespot. That makes up like 2/3 the population. I just saw this site and realized it fit in with the whole destructoid/ kotaku gaming type of website (sort of)
As Citizen Kane, was a long time poster over at Gamespot. I think I started back in 2000 or so and never left. I still actually occasionally post there, but I mostly followed Jeff, Ryan, Brad and Vinnie. I don't even read any of their site content.
"I was pulled, as if by a great force."That was me putting you into a potato sack and transporting you over here.
"BiffMcBlumpkin said:No, but he woke up as I was plucking him. I don't know if he's ever been plucked that hard, but I doubt it."I was goose hunting and I accidentally shot Brad."Are you saying brad looks like a moose?"
I've been a follower of GameSpot.com since 2005. When Jeff and the rest of the "best" crew left the site, GameSpot felt very empty. Especially the Hot Spot and On the Spot. They were very boring. I then accidentally found out that Gertsman, Showmaker and the rest of the guys have their own website. That's when I started checking GiantBomb.
I knew GiantBomb.com from GameTrailers's Bonus Round Show. Jeff was one of the guests. He intruduced himself as a GiantBomb editor.................. you see how being on different show is a good advertismenent :P
Well, you see it all starts with a series of tubes that give us access to the "interwebz". These "webz" allow us to connect to purveyors of information from all over the world. Oh my yes. Indeed the amount of pornographic material open to you is, in fact, limitless. Why, say you wanted to see a bear and a woman "going at it" than all you have to do is access the interwebz. I can recall quite clearly searching for some manner of gratuitous bombing pornograpy and I stumbled upon this location. While it leaves much to be desired in the area of nudity and fornication it does offer all manner of useful information.
"well I came here from GS, people over there were saying how stupid this site was so I joined up, and now i like this site even more than GS."Gamespotters are in denial if they said that.
"serbsta said:"IGN - GameSpot - Here - NoobFeed."what is IGN like?"
IGN pisses me off. It has a lot of good stuff but it's all for the IGN insiders. I'm not paying for my membership there...

"
Becuase when I visited the site I could not find any forums.
"Do they have forums?Yes, they do have forums. I left IGN quite a while back for a few reasons. I liked GameSpot more but its as if the staff didnt even care about the community, its a little better here though.
becuase I could not find any when I visited the site."
I was only at Gamespot about 2 months before Jeff was fired, and I was already a fan. I heard of GiantBomb through Gamespot, and followed the blog version of the site pretty much from when it launched. Then finally the full site launched, and I've been just as addicted to this place as the blog version. I do miss those How To Build A Bomb episodes.
I was looking for how to build a large explosive so I could get back at a certain group of people for their cruelty. I happened upon this site and my life has never been the same. I no longer feel the need to destroy, but rather to create. I felt as if I was part of a constructive community. Thanks Giant Bomb!
Been a member of Gamespot for a good 5 years roughly so obviously I sort of followed the guys editorial content from there. Started reading the site when it was just a blog by Jeff before it evolved into a blog version of GiantBomb. Stuck with the site ever since, great place for sure!
