If I were a mod it would be more or less the same, because, for the most part, the mods are good here. I've seen one or two make a mistake (deleting some trolling posts in a thread but leaving others etc.) but they're only human, you can't expect them to get it right every time. Mostly, there moderations are spot on!!!!

I'm not kissing ass, I'm expressing my feelings. If I was kissing ass I would have said something along the lines of:
"It would be worse because I could never do a job as well as those fantastic mods. They do a Brilliant job, and I couldn't even come close to doing the job as well as them"

Jeff and I were talking about this the other day. We figure that gaming journalists and moderators on gaming sites share one thing in common - no matter what they do, a certain segment will always hate them and feel like they could do a better job. It just comes with the territory.

Most of the time I agree with them (I know I'm such an ass kisser for agreeing), but I'd probably be spending my day moving the Off-Topics to more relevant ones (like Presidential candidates), don't know if I could confront/ban people, though
A submission mod would sound more interesting (especially since there's no 3 day delay). People would come up with things ranging from cool to hilarious, although some of it would be really tedious - someone submitting hundreds of nearly the same submissions, like all the jump games.

What MB said is totally right. You can never please everybody. I think at the moment the job they're doing is adequate (not super). I don't comment on hypothetical situations.
I'd create an Assholes Who Talk In 3rd Person Forum and dedicate my time to moving mostly every Hulk and Robocop post into that forum, but BiffMcBlumpkin wouldn't be caught dead posting in it.
I'd also create a Conspiracy Theory subsection, delete it, and quietly suggest the Jews were somehow involved in its deletion. Serbsta's tinfoil hat would turn itself inside out.
I would then unban Kush and Virago, ban myself, and call CNN to let them know the formula for the most unreadable internet forum of all time has finally been discovered.
Oh of course everyone would vote for me. I was the first knucklehead to suggest everything could run on windmills, and as of today I'm the first one suggesting everything could run on one enormous windmill.

Anyway. I love the forums for the freedom I have to curse and speak my mind, but they aren't perfect. I really dislike one or two of the mods, though the rest I either like or don't care about.
I can't say that I would do a better job, simply because I don't have time to be on these forums and read through almost every post I come across. I also don't have the patience to deal with assholes who would arbitrarily hate me simply for holding an authoritative position.
I'm happy with the way things are, but I think a couple of you mods could lighten up a bit and stop closing threads simply because you don't enjoy reading them. Also, stop with the "it belongs in your blog" crap. If the poster puts it on the forums, he wanted it to be discussed and for him to interact with the readers. The profile pages are not exactly conducive for discussion.
