I don't know why the Jersey Shore cast continues to think they can excel at anything. It seems to me the reason the show exists is that they can't excel at anything other then being loud, obnoxious, and tan. Snooki wrote a book even, and its just as offensive as this, if not more so. "

Don't forget that "The Situation" also has a song out.  I have yet to listen to it, though. "
You sir, are the best worst person on this site. I'm going to go find and suffer through his song now.

By the way, name of the song? The Situation. And yep, its terrible. With all these names attached to it, how could it not be?

"  Nonono I got it:"Madden NFL 2005, but with the art style of  Heavy Rain."      It would just be sad looking football players running around in grey/depressing environments and it would always be raining. Throw in the occasional QTE and a few Jasons and you would have the next big thing.  "

That's a great one. And then Jason gets killed by a Linebacker.

my first result was "FFVII, Reborn." So many people would kill to make that true, especially after that PS3 tech demo years ago.

My second is "Classic level design of Civilization combined with the gimmicks of Donkey Kong Country." Ah yes. What Civilization was missing all along!

Super Smash Brawl had me going, mostly because of that sinister "reveal a new item/character/song every day" thing that happened on the website.

Devil May Cry 3 is the one at the top for my most anticipated though. I loved the first one, and hated the second. When I saw the trailer from TGS for Devil May Cry 3, I was ecstatic. It looked like everything I wanted DMC2 to be back when it disappointed me, like it was going to redeem 2 completely. And you know what? I think it did. I poured many hours into the original DMC3 and I'd gladly do it again.

DMC 4 though? Not so much.

@President_Barackbar: I think you nailed the issue with Homefront, and I'm going to expand  on that.  Here's my perspective on narrative in... anything really, so take it, leave it, or ignore it. No hard feelings on this end;

Any story needs to establish a set of "rules" for its universe, I feel. These rules can be broken or violated, provided there is a reason for it to happen. A good example of this is Mass Effect (I'll cite the first one for now). In the first few hours of Mass Effect, you get a great idea for the Military Order, the humans place in the intergalactic political realm, and it even starts with Shepard meeting some Spectres so you get a good sense of how important they are. That way, you can understand how dangerous it is that one has gone Rogue, and whats at stake should you succeed or fail. Its not cemented in reality, but it still establishes an important set of rules to found itself upon.

Homefront does not do this. As Barackbar points out, Homefront went for a realistic setting. It pushes high drama moments and masses of bodies you NEED TO BE SAD AT RIGHT NOW. Asking the gamer to accept a bizarre sequence of events with very little explanation completely ruins any of the realistic angle they were going for. Maybe it might help to allude to some mass EMP device being researched in the early years before open conflict, but honestly, that wouldn't explain a complete lack of international involvement or the sudden economic explosion of  North Korea.

Um... in other words, I agree with the OP.

" It's not so much a matter of the number as it is how well it maintains it. I'd rather take a game that runs smoothly at 30 than a game that's sometimes at 60, but is all stutter-y and twitchy.  "
My feelings exactly. I spent a long time with a lousy computer, and I could handle anything that ran at a steady pace.

I actually just started playing it again- installed it not even three days ago. The voice acting and artistic design choices are still well worth playing the game for. The combat hasn't aged well, but its still functional. The level design feels a lot more... "padded" then I remember.

Still, I think its well worth experiencing. I've heard rumors the original will be released on Steam around the time Madness Returns comes out, but you know... its a rumor. I don't put much stock in it.

" That meme is funny and sad at the same time. Nonetheless the game is not trash. It's an average game that seems like trash if you compare it to DA:O. If you have never played DA:O it might even be a great game for you. "

My feelings echoed perfectly. Someday I'll make it to a forum in time before someone like-minded beats me to my own thoughts.

If DA2 were somehow a game with no previous installment (not sure how they'd make sense of the two, but for the sake of the argument...) I suspect it would have been received at lesat well. Because of how intricate DA:O was and the great characterization, I think DA2 seems worse then it actually is.

EDIT: I forgot to Add- love the picture OP. That got a laugh out of me.

" The thing is
  1. This is an employee, not the entire company Bioware. He isn't acting officially, but privately.
  2. It's common knowledge how screwed up publishers' views on Metacritic scores are. People lose pay, get fired or worse over Metacritic scores below a certain point (as I recall, there was something with Assassin's Creed not being allowed to have under a pretty high score. We're talking 7-10.)
Can't blame a guy in that enviroment wanting to protect his job. I'm not saying that's how things work in Bioware, but that's how it works someplaces.
"
This is pretty much my thoughts, so I substitute them here now. The truth is this happens all the time in almost every creative industry. I guarantee that there are many amazon.com book reviews written by the author and/or editors and publishers. Maybe its a knee-jerk reaction some people feel necessary to defend there creative IPs or jobs, or maybe it really is just people trying to suddenly sway the crowd.

Either way, I don't really have an issue with it. I will say I haven't ever seen it work, though.

@ Lawrens: I thought I was the only person who played God Hand. Nice choice. The song that plays during the credits made me laugh.

This one isn't really all that obscure (at least not when it came out) but nowadays I don't see it popping up as often. Here's Max Payne 2:
