"I haven't played it, so I can't really say.  I can tell you I'm far more interested in Modern Warfare 2 than I am in anything Halo has to offer.  Borderlands sounds like it's going to be a completely different game, so I'm not even going to bother comparing the two.   I liked Modern Warfare, so odds are I'll probably like the sequel. "

I am not asking for you to compare games and when you say "I liked MW so I will probably like the sequel"  goes right to the root of my problem with MW2, it is not exciting me or making me say "oh wow I need to get that".  You can say Halo may have nothing your interested in but to me the Firefight mode and open world single player is new to the franchise.  Borderlands is a totally new IP which if the gameplay and story holds up it has the elements to probably be a superior experience anyways.  So, I am asking what is new for MW2?  Is it the same ol same ol or does it have a interesting feature or  something new to make it anything other than been there done that already in that franchise feeling.

Maybe I have grown tired of the franchise, but other than an exciting ride on a snowmobile, what will MW2 do for me that MW and WaW haven't done already.  Will MW2 have single player co-op or a survival type mode?  So, far I am not impressed and have decided on other alternatives.

For me I am finding the co-op mode, with over a million weapon variations, interesting graphics, and rpg leveling and loot system of Borderlands much more interesting.

Hell, the open world single player in the halo universe with the exciting firefight mode of Halo: ODST seems much more interesting.

Please fill me in on what I might be missing with all this excitement for MW2 that can't be satisfied with a 2 day rental.

Day one purchase for me.  Borderlands is going to be so badass,  I have decided to pass on modern warfare 2 and I am going Halo:ODST (firefight here i come baby) and Borderlands.  I have grown tired of the yearly COD games.

"Weird, it seems like the main reason people are annoyed about the announcement of L4D2 is that they don't feel like there's enough content in L4D.  Why would anybody buy something that costs more than they think it is worth?  If you don't feel like a game is worth your money yet, don't buy it, especially if it's a game that you think will be updated, have patience if something like this will annoy you this much.

If every copy of L4D had come with a signed contract promising extra content then I would understand but I personally feel like I got far more out of L4D than the £30 odd I spent on it.  If you don't feel like you got your money's worth out of L4D between the content update by Valve and the mod community's work then I don't think anything I say can help you.  Don't buy L4D2,  I'm sure that plenty of less spoilt people will enjoy this game.
"

Thats one of the main compliants here is that the L$D developers went on a whole PR marketing  spin (even Doug Lombardi was caught on video) before the games launch promising support with more missions, weapons, characters, etc.  This was promised because Valve knew the game was VERY short (4 hours), so they sold these promises of support to their fans to sell this game, which 8 months later they have not made good on those promises.  By the way the boycott is at 35,000 now, which is potentially over 2 million in lost sales if they do not buy, which could be a concern as its not hard to get pirated copies and if you piss the fanbase and especially PC users, you will have shot yourself in the foot.

You didn't answer my question; would you prefer that they release small pieces of content piecemeal over the next year and delay the release? They'd be squeezing just as much money out of you.CoD4 has a sequel coming out this year, Halo 3 has one coming out this year, and a Gears sequel is on the way in 2010 or 2011 probably. Fundamental tech that L4D is based on is being changed/updated--I don't have a problem with them coming out with a full retail release."

The problem with your arguement is each sequel example you used took 2 years to make the next iteration of the game and they updated the game engine.  L4D2 was announced 7 months after the original came out and will be released one year after the first and the Source engine is outdated.  This feels to me like the games were cut into for two retail releases for Activision their publisher.  The original L4D was very lite on content and on multiple occasions Valve representatives made it well know that L4D was lite on content and they commented support for new characters, maps, weapons, and missions as dlc after launched, this was used to sell the game by PR tactics, now Valve has done a 360 on gamers who have bought the game.....I wonder how much my copy will fitch on ebay....also Screw You Valve.

Seasons in the Abyss, that disc was the shit back in college and it holds up well today.  Skeltons of Society and Dead Skin Mask are standout songs I remember.

Yes Infamous is awesome, but Prototype is as well, but they are different experiences, so if your wanting Infamous you will have to get a PS3 and its worth it plus all the previous exclusives you have missed and you will be able to play Uncharted 2 and GOW3 when they release.

I'm interested to find this out as well."

Radical has created New York to scale....that should be a good indication of the size, don't you think?  Also, there are over 90 missions thru-out the city.

Same here. Radical are great developers.  I have the Prototype game guide and the game is massive.......over 90 missions.  I have the X360 and PS3 versions of Prototype preordered (the X360 one is a present for my son getting all A's and B's on his report card + I gave him a $50 bill).  Anyways I have seen 2 dev walk thru videos from CES and GDC and I can tell this is my kind of game.

Lastly, I adore Infamous...its excellent, so when I heard from another podcast that another gamer actually feels Prototype is a better game despite the fact he loves Infamous.......thats all I need to know.
