Quick Look: The New NXE

I live in Denmark and we have NOTHING of that. The only kind of service thing we have is Zune video store where you can rent movie... It's my understanding that the Zune database is very, very limited compared to Netflix. 
Oh and we don't have the indie game section either.

Imo, this looks worse than what the current NXE is like

Not liking the new design on Avatars and I would say that "I wouldn't mind if it for better use in Kinect games" but the games that have that Avatar support are not good enough to play.

The problem with the new avatars is that they look too proportional and realistic.  It's not as cartoony and cute, now it's just...a dude.  Like, internal Sony dudes to be used in "Sports Champions" or whatever other weird European release.  Not funny, with no style, just terrible because of the amount of generic stuffed in. 
 
Microsoft sure has fucked up their holiday 2010, huh?

What I want is the NXE to look like the Zune stuff. I love the design of that thing, it looks so much better than the white and green Xbox things.

I have never used the shoulder buttons to navigate, always used the analog. Never thought about using anything else.

Still can't wait for the voice commands on Kinect of 'xbox rage quit'. Nice to see this though until it's released.  
 
edit: One thing I didn't notice on the first viewing of this is the avatars bouncing around when watching basketball on espn, I wonder if while watching a hockey game the avatars start slamming other avatars into the walls (or high sticking them).

I assume this is for everyone, not just Kinect users?

So it still defaults to the "featured" tabs when you turn it on?  You know it sucks that they pump ads at you as soon as you turn the thing on even though you continue to pay them cash for a gold account.  Hell they even hiked the price this year.
 
 My laptop connected to the TV is still 10x better at doing all the media stuff.  Xbox just piles on all kinds of weird restrictions and hassles.  "secure HDCP link not found"  LOL
 
It also takes forever to load a list of my xboxlive arcade games when I'm connected to the net but it loads very quickly when I'm not.  Why?
 
I don't know.  They didn't fix my two biggest problems with the system (ads and slow loads) so I'm not excited at all, and I don't feel very confident that they care about usability and customer satisfaction.

The Avatars looks so horrible! The bodies got bigger but the head stayed the same!

I HATE the way Xbox avatars all have their weight shifted to the right. Each person in the exact same awkward pose.

They didn't talk about the new parental control, MS said they would change it!!!

I like it. I couldn't care less about the avatars, I think the general look just looks a lot cleaner and much less cluttered.

I like the feel of it. It seems nicer.

You can already listen to your Zune Pass subscription music in the background if you share them from your PC using Windows Media Player's network sharing.  Hopefully they will updated the Zune PC software so that network sharing works from that software as well. Version 4.7 of Zune PC is supposed to come out in October.
 
 
If you have Windows 7 just open up Windows Media Player. Under the "File" menu click "Manage libraries - Music" and add whatever folder you store your Zune Pass content in. You can then access all of these songs on the Xbox dashboard and play your Zune music in the background while you do other things on the console.

Meh, none of this looks like it'll effect me at all, what with my complete disinterest in using my Xbox 360 for anything other than games.
 
And I personally would prefer for the system not to bombard me with ads, so I can see the appeal of using a 360 without internet access.

I love the fact that's Ice T's pic was shown throughout the Zune demo.

I'm not sure if I missed something buuuuut... I signed up for this and it said my Xbox would auto update when the preview released. My Xbox has not done this, so did I actually not get in?

I'm pretty damn interested in how the newer zune stuff will work out. Currently navigating the "My Videos" vs. "Zune Video" is awful.

Strange as it may seem, I only use my Xbox 360 to play video games. Weird, I know.

That was kinda the world possible Theme to show off. 
 
I wanna see if it still cuts off the Theme at the bottom and block half of the top with all the goddamn window menu things.

I'm really excited about the online voice chat being better.  I didn't sign up for this beta because I like to party chat a lot and I don't think most of my friends on my list are getting into the preview program.

WAAAAAHH!!! I love how the crying and bitching is exactly the same like when the 360 was first getting NXE. There's no pleasing these idiots. If you hate it so much just have the game load up as soon as you turn the console on.

Not that I'm complaining about pointless videos on Giant Bomb, but who gives a shit.
 
It's an interface. Why does anyone care about menus that they use to get them into video games or Netflix? Why is this a thing? I DON'T UNDERSTAND.

Now if only the PS3 would redesign their stinky as poo XMB!

I was worried how Netflix and stuff would look with the removal of the depth plane thing they were doing. You used to be able to show like 12 box covers in one screen, now it's 7 max.
 
Did they at least make it like the PS3 and allow the dashboard to be displayed in 1080p instead of upscaled 720p?

You guys forgot the part where it keeps the best feature of the NXE, having an advertisment blade pop up first thing when you log in and having the features you liked buried behind even more ads.
 
Yeah, I'm keeping my Boot to Disc turned on and sticking to the guide button.
