Games that mattered in 2010

I'm trying to compile a list of games which could hypothetically deserve to be nominated for real awards this year. The list below is what I have come up with. However, I am not an expert in many areas of gaming, so I need the GB community help me to fill out this list. I am only looking for people to add games to the list, not take them away. Though I am iffy about 3D Dot Heroes and Alpha Protocol, so if the general consensus is that those games should go I will take them out. Also, keep in mind that it only has to be REASONABLE to nominate a game in a category (and only positive-minded categories that could reasonably exist please). This means that even if there are 10 games that fit in a category, and only 5 slots, all 10 games belong on this list.
 
And keep it civil folks, this would be a handy list to have available. No need to start flaming.

There was a quite a few on that list I wouldn't consider reasonable.

Yup, you are absolutely right. Thats why they are now on the list. Would they also be nominate-able for best RPG? Obviously I would never agree, but I am not the only gamer in the bomb. "

I would perhaps move a few items up on your list, but I find it to be fairly comprehensive.

Some Portable games that may have been missed.

Is this a ranking list? Nice list, but I would have put a few of them up higher. Alan Wake being number 31 is almost a crime :P And I don't think the first two deserve the top two spots, although they are definitely notable 2010 releases. 
 
Edit: And by the time this year is done GT5 should be like, number 1 :D

Minecraft, Nier, and Strange Journey.

Angry Birds, Cut The Rope, Fruit Ninja, Bad Company 2.

DQ IX is arguably the biggest DS release this year, maybe Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver would top it... that Pokemans don't get no play on GiantBomb. 
 
I'd vote VCII best PSP game for sure, it's definatly top five of 2010.

If it wasn't for the ER no one would give a shit about this game, but now for some reason everyone on this forum has a boner for this garbage game.

I'd vote for SMT: Strange Journey but Etrian Odyssey III did it better.

I'd say Other M in terms of not how to tell/write a story.  Seriously, this game's storytelling is so bad that it will probably set game storytelling back 5 years. 
 
Dragon Quest IX mattered in the sense that it tapped into a good audience here in the US due to Nintendo's marketing.  I wish they had kept up with the local events nationwide past a couple of months. 
 
Monster Hunter Tri mattered because it finally gave Wii/Nintendo a definitive online multiplayer experience that is fun, challenging and extremely addictive.

Also you'll probably have to add Cataclysm when it comes out. No matter where you stand on the WoW front it's probably going to be the best selling PC game this year. 

I approve 21. It might just be the best game I have bought this year. I love Mafia II.

Now that I think about it, Wii owners will be hard pressed to find a better fighter on their console than Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars.  That game is nuts.

Yakuza 3? Considering some of the stuff that's already on the list... 
Which i guess means Monster Hunter should be there too... 
 
And i'm going to say Nier and SMT should have as much of a chance as DP. Which is to say, i don't think they really quite make it. Cept maybe SMT, even though i personally wasn't into it.
