I usually end up getting somewhat close since I don't have a very big TV. How about you?
Do you game up close or at a distance from the screen?
Typically I'm 1 to 3 ft away from my monitor. On the very rare occasion that I play console games (usually rock band 2) I'm sitting on the couch maybe 10 ft away.
I often find myself sitting as far away from my TV as possible, which is only like 6-7 feet away because then my chair is bumping into my bed. I get closer if I need to do precision work or really concentrate on what I'm doing. Then if things really heat up, I stand up and do massive damage.
It deppends on where I am. At my university home in the front room I sit on the sofa, about 1-2 yards away, because it's a decent sized. In my university bedroom I sit close, because I have a reasonably small TV. I'll sit on the end of my bed, probably about a foot or 2 away from the TV. At home in the front room It depends on the game. its a half decent sized TV, but the sofa is about 4-5 yards away, so if the game has some small text, or a reasonably small minimap I'll sit on the floor a bit closer, probably about a yard or 2 away. In my room at home I've got a tiny 25 year old TV, so I sit a couple of inches away from it.
yeah I only play games in my room and I've got a small TV so usually 4-5 feet away from the screen is where I sit, and that just happens to be where my bed is. I prefer comfortable gaming.
