Extra Life, an annual 25-hour video game marathon that raises money to help kids at Children's Miracle Network Hospitals has been running for a while now and is truly a great cause. I've been doing it for the past 3 years and live streamed it every year (sometimes for 29hrs). With the help of the Giant Bomb community last year we raised a crazy $27,601.44. This year I've set the team goal at $30,000. I know what you're thinking, that's a lot of money but I believe in us! On November 2nd 2013 We'll attempt to play an 25 hour video game marathon and it's our hope that you'll support us with a donation that will go directly to that team member's chosen hospital.
If you want to get involved go to www.extra-life.org and during registration select Giant Bomb as the team you would like to join or if you have already registered go to this link (http://www.extra-life.org/team/giantbomb) and hit join team. Post the link to your fundraising page / live stream (If you're doing one) and I will update the table below with a list of charitable duders.
Not at all! Live streams are purely optional and are not a requirement for Extra-Life. If you don't have the means to stream but would still like to participate I encourage to still sign up and raise money #4thekids
What if I can't commit to that date or the entire time? The idea and spirit of Extra Life is that everyone pulls together at the same time, but we know that’s not going to be possible for everyone. Don’t let a commitment on the 2nd stop you from joining. Just do what you can and make up the game time later. What matters most is the time you put in BEFORE the event to raise money for these kids.
What if I can't finish the full 25 hours due to commitments or exhaustion? If you won’t be able to finish the whole thing, you can make up the remaining hours later. It’s all on the honor system and what really matters is that we’re all raising money for a great cause. Your sponsors should know they are supporting the cause whether you crash on hour 18 or not.
