How many games did you finish in 2014?

I feel like this year, more than any other, I picked up a lot of games and didn't see them through. With the new consoles I poked around with most, if not all, of the major releases that came out, while still trying to play through an ever increasing backlog.

There is still a week left until the end of the year, so there is still hope for some of these half finished games, but as it stands I only managed to see the credits on twelve video games this year (and two individual episodes of telltale games, but let's not count those just yet)

Here are the games I managed to get through this year:

That's kind of a sad list, tbh. How about you guys? Did you manage to get through a bunch of stuff? Or did things kind of only manage to kind of catch your attention?

Yeah, same here. I didn't finish a large amount of games I started. I don't usually have this problem. Didn't finish Watch Dogs, Wolfenstein, Shadow of Mordor, FarCry 4 and others. All for mostly the same reason: I just felt like I had seen everything the game had to offer long before it was over and wasn't drawn to the game enough to keep playing what I already played for hours.

Interestingly, this might be the year where I saw credits roll the most, except on games I had already finished. I think I finished Dark Souls II around 12 times, Destiny 3 times, XCOM 4 times and so on. I sort of found out I like games that are solid enough for me to replay over one-shot games. I barely liked any of those this year, except for This War of Mine and Jazzpunk.

Man, I gotta be over 20. And this seemed like a slow year. Gotta break this down later.

I've finished like 71 games this year (not all from 2014 of course)...I really need a life, a wife, and a lot less strife :/

One - Super Mario 3D World. And I haven't even finished the extra worlds yet. So much shit happened in 2014 that got in the way. I'll be glad to see the back of it.

It's hard for me to count because I have a huge backlog so I would start games and if they weren't grabbing me within the first 2-10 hours (depending on the scope of the game I would give it more of a chance) I would drop it, delete it, and move on to another one. I really just want to finish my back log because I hate having so many games I have never even played.

So, anyway, I probably finished maybe 20 games this year. Maybe. I couldn't name them all- that would take a while- but suffice to say they weren't all from this year.

And one that will probably not be finished til 2015 but with the majority having been played in 2014, Batman: Arkham Origins. My game of the year would be so easy this year lol.

I also have a handful of additional games I might be able to wrap up by year's end. 35 is a pretty good number for me. I usually end up in the mid-30's so I'm pretty pleased with the games I beat.

I've beaten some games in there twice like Stick it to the Man!, Home, Metro Last Light, Beyond: Two Souls, etc. I've gotten all the trophies for a good amount of games too. 12 platinum trophies and I've reached 100% in a bunch of games with no platinum trophies. Not to shabby.

I'm also still not done. I'm trying to power through some games so I can get my GOTY list out. Those games are Alien: Isolation, Child of Light, & The Evil Within. I can definitely finish those in less then a week. If I can, I'll probably put some time into Velocity 2X and maybe South Park? Oh who am I kidding. I doubt I can get through South Park before then.

Also also! I didn't include games you can't beat but I played a bunch of/still play like PvZ Garden Warfare, Binding of Isaac Rebirth, Luftrausers, Loadout, Driveclub, Warframe, etc. Although I have killed Mom like 6 times in Binding of Isaac. So yeah, I guess I can say I've played about 90+ games this year. That's a record. I've never even played half this amount of games before in 1 year.

I don't think I've ever kept track of all the games I've finished in a year. With Steam's help + estimating how many games outside Steam I've finished...at least 40. Not including games I replayed that I'd finished before 2014, of course. The vast majority of games I've played this year didn't even come out in 2014, but they were new to me. I don't mind because I've had some great experiences that I might not have had if I could afford to buy the newest games.

Also...thank you, TC. I was feeling down, but looking over the games I've played this year and how much I've enjoyed them and their varied atmospheres has made me feel better. I won't make a list of all of them. However, the ones that stood out the most to me are Knytt Underground, Heroine's Quest, The Cat Lady, the Blackwell series, Avernum: Escape from the Pit, Waking Mars, and Oknytt (completely unrelated to Knytt Underground :P).

About 28 - That's 7 less than last year.

Considering how little I'd been playing games this year, I'm surprised how much I got through. Only game I invested any serious time into and didn't finish would be Resident Evil 6. Completed the Leon campaign and was like "Ok, I'm done".

At first I thought I didn't finish much this year but 28 is a good number, even though 7 of those can be completed in under 2 hours. Only 2 of these were carry over from previous years. Seven of them were games I had already beaten before and played through them again. Looking at my list of games played, the only one I wish I had finished but didn't was P4AU. I'm like, only 2/3rds of the way through the P4 story in that.

I unlocked Duck Hunt dog in Smash Bros.

Pathetic year of gaming for me. That's what I get for not playing anything all summer.

Well playing short games helps, and having responsibilities that only gives you free time when most everyone else is asleep/occupied does too.

36 this year, down from 77 last year.

I feel like a lot of these lists are so huge that it would mean you barely watch any giant bomb videos if at all...cause those are a huge time commitment too! You wouldn't have the time. I don't even know how you do it regardless. 30+ decent length games a year is insane. I don't think any of the bomb crew can claim to have beaten that much.

I watch GB videos while playing games. Problem solved.

@aegon: It's a combo of interspersing shorter games and listening to the bombcasts while playing. Last year was much easier for my attempt to beat 100 in one year (something I will not try again) since there wasn't as much premium video content.
