MTV Games popped out a quick bit of info about the newly-named "The Beatles: Rock Band" this morning. The game will have a simultaneous release on September 9 in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and "other territories" on 360, PS3, and Wii.

Only US-based pricing is available for the three different retail boxes that will hit. The game-only pack is listing at $59.99, which is fine and good for you 360/PS3 cats. But the release claims that the Wii version will also go for that price, which is ten bones more than you're used to paying for retail Wii products. There will be a "Standalone Guitars" pack that will run $99.99 across all three platforms, and a "Limited Edition Premium Bundle" for $249.99.

While the game will be compatible with most, if not all of your existing music-game hardware, there will be new Beatles-branded hardware available in limited numbers, letting you use instruments modeled after the stuff those guys in that band used when they recorded all those songs before you were born. Well... before I was born, anyway.

There's also a new official site for the game up, but it doesn't offer more than a long line of corporate logos and the release date.

Cool but I hope they get music from what Paul McCartney and John Lennon did after the beatles.  Though i hope they make no mention of yoko ono, she destroyed John Lennon!

I don't care about the Beatles. I care about Rock Band. My undying love for Rock Band does not cancel out my distaste for the Beatles. That said, I'm not gonna bother.

Did The Beatles demand that their name be put before the "Rock Band" part?

All these music games are way over my head (and out of my normal budget range). This game will continue to be no exception.

I can see like Wii Beatles being popular because it's weird alot of parents I know have bought a Wii that have never played a game in their life and they all love the Beatles because it is their time. However I can't help but feel that Rock Band isn't really their audience.

    I like the title.
Rather than Rock Band: The Beatles, it's The Beatles: Rock Band. Needless to say The Beatles are much larger than Rock Band.

Personally, totally excited about this.  The only downside is that I will have to put in different discs to play Beatles songs when I'm playing Rock Band with my friends.  I'll figure it out.

My mom would love something like this. I'm still waiting for some proper death metal before I drop the cash on a toy instrument pack.

@MrRedwine: I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of import function like with the original Rock Band tracks.

No guitar or bass in that song so I doubt it. Sure there are drums, but only a basic beat for the rest of the instrumentals.RHCPfan24 said:

Most people don't know that Lennon wanted to end that relationship with her, but he got shot by Chapman before it happened.

And it said that this rockband is just the beatles, not solo career. Too bad cause the wings had some good stuff as well as lennon and the plastic ono band (not because of yoko).

I love the beatles...love them...but I am officially Rock Banded out.

I was hoping it would be a music game...but not Rock Band

All that being said I will probably buy this...but I would rather have Amplitude: Beatles.

    Color me intrigued.

The Beatles entire catalog is a mishmash of guitars, drums, and just about every wind and stringed instrument under the sun. I'll be looking forward to a setlist announcement closer to September.

For the same price as a Rock Band 2 disc hopefully it will have almost as many songs.
