So, inspired by LOLtima, EightBitWarrior, and others, I decided to hop on the top 30 bandwagon. Now, you're probably going to hate my picks, so be forewarned.
BoG's top 30 games of all time: Prepare to disagree (30-26)

30. Lumines
29. Final Fantasy V
28. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
27. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES
26. Sonic CD
My friend will swear by Final Fantasy V until the day he dies. I borrowed it once and it seemed really good to me. However, the game doesn't operate correctly on the PS3. After that one cross-dressing pirate joins you party, whenever you try to save in the over-world, the title hangs. I gave up at that point and gave it back to him.
I don't understand why they went and combined all the physical attack types into one in Persona 4. That is one area where Persona 3 is the superior product. But Persona 4 has direct character control, which is nice. How am I supposed to choose?!
Oh, sweet another list. I hope this provides to be good reading, I have hopes in you BoG. Sonic CD was a great game, and so was Persona 3, even if I still like P4 more. I understand your point, however, in your placement and such.
Final Fantasy V is also an underappreciated game, too, even if I have never finished it. FFVI is still my favorite though.
"I dunno how you guys even think about doing a top games of all time list. I know if i did one I'd miss a tonne of great games out, and I'd never be able to settle on an order."That's exactly why I hat making these kind of lists. I'm a really indecisive person so making such big choices just give me a headache.
I tried Final Fantasy Tactics Advance using malicious means and it was fun... but I've stopped doing that. I'm planning to get a PSP someday and I'll definitely buy the remake of the original FFT.
Finally got to a list that I can follow every day *achievement unlocked*. So, thanks for that...
"Lumines is my all time favorite puzzle game."
Well, I guess this means Tetris isn't going to make it on the list. What a bummer!
Anyway, after reading MC_Izawa's top 10 list, this list looks pretty excellent already. I won't lie, I haven't even played any of these games. I played a Lumines demo for a few minutes and just could not understand how it worked. Perhaps I am retarded. Either way, good effort. Hopefully the rest of the list will have some games I'm more familiar with. I'm not much of an RPG guy and never owned a Sega console. I really should give Lumines another shot and try to figure out how it works. I remember being really intrigued by it when it first came out on PSP.
"Also, I stopped reading at Final Fantasy V. Terrible game. = P"You're a terrible game.

I started Lumines up yesterday and played for two hours straight. It consumes you and never lets you go.
"LordAndrew said:Is THAT what they say about me? Eh. I've been pretty happy and upbeat lately. I just really couldn't stand Final Fantasy V. That game was total balls. Then again, then you've got Final Fantasy VI to compete against, it's kind of hard for ANY other FF games to hold up."jakob187 said:Jakob has been full of piss and vinegar for some reason lately.""Also, I stopped reading at Final Fantasy V. Can't disagree here. Not sure I would include them all in my top 30 but they are all great games and great picks. So I can't really complain. Especially Persona.
Also I don't know where the top "30" started but I think its a good number. Big enough to offer some depth that will make it very unique yet not so long its impossible to read. Enjoy this, thanks!

I learned that to appreciate V, you have to play the rest of the series and get proper perspective of Final Fantasy's overall history. More specifically the job system, and that Final Fantasy slowly became the more "serious" dark toned series over time.
What really did it for me was that I decided to buy V on GBA on a whim. I had attempted to complete the game a couple times prior but to no avail due to my relative disinterest in the characters. After some dedicated play the story finally does pick up, and the job system becomes more or less the center piece of the overal experience.
Overall V is an important entry in the series. If you want real crap...try the original Final Fantasy II...
Some noticeable things about V (Spoilers, for a game made in 1994...):
* The first game to have Gilgamesh. First time "Battle on the Big Bridge" is used. Gilgamesh is hilarious even now. His name should be added to the definition of "Epic Fail."
* Aerith may freak out fans with her death years later. But Gaulf's final stand is pretty impressive.
* The main character is named Bartz. In Japanese his original name is Butz, thus winning the award for worst JRPG name ever.
*Two planets that converge into one. FFIX anyone?
*ExDeath turns out to be...a....tree... The final boss... Is a tree... EPIC!!!!
You know that you can END THE UNIVERSE using Final Fantasy V
"You can END THE UNIVERSE using Final Fantasy VMy problem with your theory: it turns into a black hole, rather then the void.

Whoa whoa whoa, you're meaning to tell me that Jakob was at one time full of something OTHER than piss and vinegar??? :D
"FF: Tactics Advance was fantastic. I agree, BoG."I bought that game four times, and invested over 750 hours into it total. I love that game....
All I know is I am playing Persona 3 FES right now (about 22 hours in - just rescued Yamagishi) and I am lovin' it. Depending on how things turn out, I may argue with you about it being placed too low on your list. Ha-ha, not really. I'm just glad to see it represented and extatic I finally tried the series.
