My condolences man, he sounded like an amazing soul.

Life is really fragile. Too many of us just disappear like that. A good reminder I suppose to never take the time you have here on earth for granted.

Well, the thing is, as Slag said, nobody knows who I am either. I have been a fan/member of the site for a couple of years now, but I'm not too outspoken. I like to sit back and just take everything in, unless I am directly involved in something. My goal is to find some people that would like to be involved, and start by just playing some games together and talking/ getting to know each other. This is to make sure we can carry a somewhat interesting conversation at the least. From there we would move on to some practice recordings and make changes where necessary, and move on to actual recordings and postings. This is how I see everything going in my head, but who knows, everything could get flipped turned upside down and be completely bonkers. It's all a work in progress. I definitely appreciate the advice though.

That's more helpful.

I think if you do a feel small things you'll help your chances of success quite a bit.

First pick an avatar for your account, right now you have the default icon which makes you look like a spammer.

Two- give people a much clearer picture of what your vision is for the podcast. E.g. length, tone, frequency, number of voices, what sort of topics you hope to cover and what you don't, guests, who hosts, when you'd record it (a lot of Giant Bomb people are in different time zones), etc.

You've outlined the process you have in mind of how you want to get there, but you haven't said exactly what you'd like it to be yet. Before people volunteer for things they usually like to know what they are volunteering for and what the commitment is likely to be.

Then once you've done that, edit your first post and put it there so new readers to the thread see it.

anyway good luck duder!

You might want to give people more information about what exactly you are planning and who you are. You'll likely get a better response if you are a known commodity and have a positive reputation here

I'm on here fairly regularly and I don't think I've ever noticed you before...

anyway good luck with your cast!

I've always liked their hardware. Usually easy to use and work wells and certainly my life was easier when I felt Nintendo was a one stop shop for me.

I missed the Genesis for a few games, but in general never really felt the need for two consoles until Playstation took the Final Fantasy series.

I do think the gaming is better off with a healthy Nintendo I'd much rather lose Sony or Microsoft than them, which means having relevant hardware from Nintendo. That's always been part and parcel to what they do. Not everything Nintendo puts out is a hit but they almost always have a unique spin on what they do.

Mario 2 would've probably turned off a portion of the fans from the first game due to its much higher difficulty. Which, not coincidentally, is a large part of the reason that Nintendo chose not to release it here. The theory that it would've felt like too much of a clone is also reasonable, when it was basically just a "master levels" expansion with a few small tweaks.

I don't know if I can reasonably try to assume what would've happened in this alternate reality, but my wild guess is that Mario 3 and the rest of the Mario series still probably would've happened, but SMB3 might not have seen as much widespread success as it did, since the more casual players were previously driven away. Those people would still eventually come back for World, I'd guess.

This largely feels like what might have happened.

I think the real loss though would have not been the casual player since games were hard across the board back then, but the image of the Mario series as being "innovative" which helped cement it as a premier franchise for decades.

That is also why people have such a dissappointed attitude towards the New Super Series since until then (in America) the Mario games usually trotted out big new mechanical ideas with each major release.

@slag: I thought you had the option of erasing dudes with magic paint thinner in Epic Mickey. Magicking someone into nonexistence sounds way more savage than just killing him!

Oh dang I didn't know he could do that, Mickey is ice cold!

I like to try to play Splinter Cell and Metal Gear non-lethally. Course that's a choice though...

can't really think of anything else action wise that does offhand though.

Didn't Epic Mickey have a big focus on non-violence? I thought I remember Warren Specter making a big deal about it in the press..
