@chaser324: Oh, that is FANTASTIC. Thanks a lot. I was going to work on a template, actually. Saves me a lot of work. I'll be sure to test new headers for the games I suggested that didn't quite work out.
Lost the last post due to an error. Let's see if I can get all those pictures figured out again. A few new ones, a few replacements for the poor pictures I requested before.
@chaser324: Seems like a lot of those headers I suggested got put up! Thanks a lot! I appreciate the extra work (presumably) you put into several of them, such as centering the Zero face more around the eyes than the mouthpiece on the 999 picture. I believe all of the substitutes used were much better than the original suggestions. My suggestions were pictures from the existing galleries tested using the Header Image Tester without the assist of any other editing tools, as I didn't want to put in that unnecessary busywork. Unfortunately, you seem to have seemed to pick up my slack, so thanks and sorry for that.
chaser, is there a way to link to images that is preferable to you? I have been using the gallery link all this time. is the direct link to the file any more useful to you? or does make no difference? thanks for updating these so quickly ;)
@mracoon: It's a shame about Leon's, but Barry's went as planned. I tested it out before hand and knew it was perfect for how it captured the one defining characteristic of Barry, being that fuck-off hand cannon of his :P And cheers!
@chaser324: That is a great page and thanks so much for setting it up for all of us. I think your suggestions are spot on for the most part. One thing you don't really have to worry about is using too high a resolution image. The site auto sizes those images anyhow. Right now we are using something which is a little too large but the way things are set up I can change it to physically chop the tops and bottoms off since we are hiding them anyhow I just need to get around to setting that up (this won't affect any of the hard work you have all done).
The images you use for these backgrounds also show up in the dig deeper box on the article and video pages. Some have asked me as to why they are so faint or why they don't occupy the entire background of a site. My intent was for these images to add some atmosphere without distracting from the actual content of the wiki pages. By putting them in the header strip it also ensures that it shows up on tablets and desktop in a similar fashion.

@alexisg: Thanks. I'll take out that bit about the extremely high res images. Also, I totally understand your intent with the header images, and I'm glad you guys didn't go the way of certain other design focused gaming sites that shall remain unnamed who at times go a bit overboard with images to the detriment of the text.
@alexisg: Any thoughts on lowering the point threshold for letting more users edit these header images? Chaser is doing a great job of course, but it would be nice if we could do it directly. Having the ability to edit virtually everything else on a wiki page except this seems odd.

The whole point is to give the privilege of setting the background header for a page to someone that's spent a lot of time and effort in editing that specific page. I've been able to set the header images on seven or eight pages myself because of the work I had put into them. I wouldn't like it if that threshold were lowered.

Anyone with a thousand points can edit the background image. I doubt the moderators are going to step on anyone's toes if someone adds a background image first.

This thread is providing a certain level of moderation however.
I dug up this one. It doesn't look too pixely when blown up and also provides a cool, typical gameplay scenario with Mario jumping towards the enemy from above. Fits right into the header.
