Wonderful Wikis

The winter game drought is here! Yes that's right, there are almost no games coming out this week. Double Fine officially released tehir first iOS game, Middle Manager of Justice and Party of Sin has had some nice work done to it. Also give the Wonder Boy franchise page a look in case you have never heard of it before.

Best of Blogs

SURPRISE! There were a lot of Game of the Year blogs this week!Check them all out to see if there were any users that felt the same or different about the most notable video games of this year. Now in terms of the notable non-GOTY blogs there were plenty this week. Little_Socrates offered a rebuttal to the growing sentiment that The Walking Dead is not a video game, whereas biospank discussed how despite the fact that he enjoyed Silent Hill: Downpour he wouldn't consider that game a "true" Silent Hill game. Goran_P offers a picture book of his adventures in far Cry 3 whereas IrrelevantJohn shares his continual efforts to learn how to play fighting games using a fight stick for the first time. TrashMustache blogged about coming to the shocking conclusion that he has never beaten a Mario game. Mento completed his blog series about Desura indie games while F1000003 continues his effort to play all of the video games with 0D Beat Drop. Blogging menace Video_Game_King played through Asura's Wrath and Coron Land, and the always steady MajorMitch blogged about Little Inferno and XCOM. MetalGearSunny discusses the numerous games he has played recently ranging from Psychonauts to Persona 4, and SirOptimusPrime talks about Hotline Miami's soundtrack as an amateur musician.

Fantastic Forums

There's still plenty of end of the year stuff to discuss this week. From your favorite Giant Bomb moments to your favorite box art. Don't be afraid to share your thoughts on any of these subjects. However, the fun highlight of the week comes from IcyEyes who has created a highlight reel of Vinny's attempts to fly during the Ravaged Quick Look.

I Created a Tumblr Account...Ask Me Your Random Questions!

Now that Jeff has essentially migrated his Formspring account to his Tumblr account I have done the same. I have created this Tumblr account for the sole purpose of asking and answering silly questions.

Also I am not the only Giant Bomb Moderator with a Tumblr:

  • MattyFTM - Questions and posts
  • PsEG - Questions only
  • Sweep - Everything and anything, just ask where you want Sweep to molest you.
  • Gamer_152 - That other guy that no one cares about.

Many Thanks to deathstroke75 for the Banner This Week!
Many Thanks to deathstroke75 for the Banner This Week!
Hello and welcome to the latest edition of the Giant Bomb Community Spotlight! This week the staff are getting prepared for Game of the Year articles and videos for your enjoyment, but the site keep rolling on. On a related note our sister site Comic Vine celebrated its sixth anniversary this week! Whiskey Media and Giant Bomb for that matter came to be thanks to the dedication of Dave Snider and Ethan Lance so many years ago. While the TNT banner making community always tends to provide great content, this week deathstroke75 really hit it out of the park with his banners this week. Also for some reason we had not one, but two examples of odd Brad Muir fan art on the site pop up this week. Prepared to be disturbed by "Muir Cat," if you plan on checking out that second link. Finally the true highlight for this entire week comes from DrWhat who created a fake opening credit video as if Giant Bomb were a 1980s T.V. show:

Wonderful Wikis

Far Cry 3 is the big release this week...and it's the last major video game release for a while. If you haven't gotten your hands on the game check out it's fairly detailed wiki page to get an idea about what it's all about. Forge and Mutant Mudds are games that were released this week and if you have no idea what they're about the Giant Bomb wiki pages for them have you covered. I created a concept page titled "Secretly a Robot," and finally with all this talk about human breast milk check out the Milk object page to clean your palate as well as your soul.

Best of Blogs

It's a new month, and like clockwork moderator Marino has all of the statistics on the community worth checking on his Data Dump blog. GoranP is creating a journal blog series detailing all of the crazy and fun adventures he's having in Far Cry 3, while TrashMustache pontificated on his favorite video game soundtracks. Mento has started a major blog undertaking where he plans to play through various Desura indie games, whereas D_Bones continues to detail the notable games from his backlog that he managed to complete this year. FLStyle responded to the news that Capcom had given IGN's IGN Pro League its blessing to use its games, whereas MMMman examined the use of inappropriate language in all video game communities. Blogging menace Video_Game_King strikes again this week with a blog detailing his thoughts on Tecmo's Deception and Haunting Starring Polterguy. CharlesAlanRatliff gives you an image blog about the hilarity that ensued on Shuhei Yoshida's Wii U profile. ArbitraryWater wrote an epic piece on The Walking Dead and Dishonored, simultaneously MajorMitch provides his final thoughts on The Walking Dead on his blog this week. BlackLagoon gives you a detailed lineup of all the games coming for the PlayStation Vita, and moderator Gamer_152 wrote a massive dissertation about the good parts of Halo 4's story. Finally a lot of users are getting into the GOTY spirit this week with Colourful_Hippie discussing the surprisingly good games this year, and BitterAlmond's latest entry on why Hotline Miami is a masterpiece.

Fantastic Forums

Far Cry 3 didn't just invade everyone's home, but it also invaded the forums with various topics related towards giving you and opportunity to discuss as well as detail your thoughts and adventures related to the game.  BRYN created the Giant Bomb staff as well as Will Smith and Norman Chan of Tested in Scribblenauts Unlimited, whereas TheMightySkullboy created the Giant bomb team on WWE '13. If you have any idea which video game character you would most want to party with or which game you were most disappointed with discuss them in their respective forum threads. Finally breast milk...you should all be ashamed of yourselves.

Lovable Lists

We have reached that time of the year again where everyone is tarting to make their Game of the Year lists. Check out all of the notable ones from this week and get your own ideas for your list. The only non-GOTY list this week comes from the always pleasing Mento who has created a list of all the games he would like to see on the video game based GCCX T.V. show.

I Have Created My First Stupid Concept Page

Yup after discussing the matter with another wiki moderator I have gone ahead and created the "Secretly a Robot" (i.e. Secret Robot/Android) wiki concept page after I attempted to proof check a submission related to a Persona 3 character. The edits reminded me that there are plenty of scenes in both video games, movies, and television programs where a character is dramatically revealed to be a robot or android.

All I can say is have at it...and also yes Bishop SHOULD be the default image for this page, but the current image feels so right.

Alex Navarro and His Girlfriend Approve of This Week's Community Spotlight!

Hello and welcome to the latest edition of the Giant Bomb Community Spotlight! The big announcement this week has to do with user created guides. As Dave has explained over here the guide system is being scrapped which unfortunately means that if you have a published guide on the site it will be deleted unless you follow the steps that Dave indicated on his announcement thread. In the event that you have a guide for a particular game that needs to be combined with another, as the guide re-design will only accept one guide per game, guide please contact a moderator and they will combine multiple guides into a single archive. In some more lighthearted news Jeff has restarted his Tumblr account and it will function as his new Formspring account in that you can ask him random and hilarious questions whenever you feel like it. One of you apparently sent the Giant Bomb staff a creepy letter featuring a "catty" version of Brad Muir. Finally check out Giant Bomb user Fobwashed's fantastic Miiverse fan art of the Giant Bomb crew:

Lame joking aside check out the new and improved wiki pages for Persona 4: Golden, Miasmata, and (oh boy this title) Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Our classic games are for Sonic Fighters and Baldur's Gate, both of which have gotten digital re-releases this week.

Best of Blogs

Mento themed his blog this week by examining games which feature pirates as well as ninjas successfully and non-successfully. Marino fell down the dark rabbit hole of restarting his blog series about his adventures in EverQuest with a blog that discusses his struggles with snake people. After many months of trying I_smell finally got his indie game No Time to Explain on Steam, where as Hamst3r bought the SEGA Mega and Genesis Classic Collection and is doing a wonderful Let's Play video series of the various games in the pack. Finally, MMMman got around to playing Silent Hill: Revelation and discusses how it marks the ongoing problems facing the series whereas F1000003 continues his quest to try and play all of the games.

Fantastic Forums

SirOptimusPrime has created a forum post detailing why you should play a modded version of Baldur's Gate as opposed to playing Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition. SpkieDelight create a short but enjoyable animated Bombcast clip worth checking out and commenting on as he plans to make more in the future. If you are playing Persona 4: Golden user selfconfessedsynic has you covered with all of the classroom questions and test answers for the U.S. version. If you are playing or have completed Mass Effect3's Omega DLC discuss your impressions or thoughts on the discussion thread for the DLC. Finally, sneezing..who would have thought that it could be such a contentious issue, right? However, apparently some of you are rude savages that do not excuse yourselves when spreading your nose boogers in someone else's abode! Savages the whole lot of you!

Hello and welcome to the latest edition of the Community Spotlight! For those of you that may have noticed the moderation team has been using a Seal of Approval to indicate which blogs, threads, user reviews, and lists that we approve of. For those wondering why we are doing this we just want to play a more active role in informing the userbase what really like to see on the site as well as keep track of what we want to see on the "User Created Highlights" portal. Other than that I have a slew of user created art I found on Twitter this week to share, weird right? One user created some awesome fridge/white board art of the Giant bomb staff.
